Project overview
Phoenix House, located within Phoenix Business Park in Basildon, is comprised of 100,000 sq ft of prestigious workspace, attracting tenants and businesses from across the largest town in Essex. With such high tenancy rates, it was imperative that Phoenix House provided an accessible EV charging solution to match the demand of electric vehicles currently on site.
Property development company, Stockplace Investments, who oversaw and managed the development of Phoenix House, contacted EVC to discuss the opportunity of providing EV provisions to the office block. An initial site survey was conducted by EVC to determine the availability of power, as well as the optimum location of the charging bays. During this process, EVC looked at the possibility of a new supply of power from the Grid, as well as the availability of spare power. It was established that the most cost effective route was to utilise the spare capacity.
After the completion of the site survey, it was decided that four 22kW dual chargers would be installed to electrify eight charging bays. This would be powered by Phoenix House’s existing building supply. The bays were made available to be used by all tenants, rather than dedicating charge points to a single tenant, creating a workplace charging hub.
Stockplace Investsments opted for EVC’s Management solution, meaning the client invested in their own site, whilst EVC provided installation, ongoing maintenance and management of the charge points. The client was also given the ability to structure the pricing from usage of the chargers. The entire installation process was completed within 5 days to reduce the disruption to current tenants of Phoenix House.
